JBASR is the Journal of the British Association for the Study of Religions (BASR). It is an on-line open access peer-reviewed journal.
JBASR began life as DISKUS, a pioneering electronic journal available on disk publishing scholarly articles of a broadly phenomenological character and primarily interested in contemporary religions. In 1993 it became a web-based journal as part of the Internet Journal of Religion hosted at the University of Marburg before it was taken on by the BASR in 2005. The Executive Committee of the British Association for the Study of Religions is grateful to Professors Brian Bocking, Gavin Flood and Michael Pye for the establishment and success of DISKUS.
The journal aims to publish a selection of papers delivered at the annual conference of the BASR as well as occasional special editions. We welcome proposals for themed editions that align with the aims of the BASR. Please send proposals to the Coordinating Editor of JBASR.
