Editorial Introduction

This issue of DISKUS arises from the 2008 BASR annual conference. It includes the BASR annual lecture by Prof Douglas Davies (Durham University) which provides an excellent demonstration of the value and breadth of the topic of "memory and religion". Three further papers (by Lynne Schofield, George Chryssides and Marion Bowman) are (or soon will be) included here that address related questions about "memory" and offer different perpectives.

Maria Jaschok's 2007 BASR annual lecture, "Chinese Hui Muslim Women At Home: tradition, dignity and modernization in a global context", could not be included in the previous issue of Diskus but we are pleased to publish it now.
